Jessica Carr, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., C.C.C.
Jessica is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an After-Degree in Education from Concordia University and holds a Master of Education in School Counselling from the University of Alberta.
Jessica’s teaching and counselling experience brings a unique perspective to her methods, with supporting the emotional, personal and academic needs of children and adolescents from a variety of backgrounds and experiences being the foundation on which her experience is built. Her specialties are providing individual and group therapy to children and adolescents on the socio-emotional goals of self-regulation, anxiety reduction, and self-esteem building.
Jessica believes in fostering a therapeutic relationship founded in understanding, compassion and kindness. She is passionate about helping students and clients feel validated and supported in achieving their endeavours. Jessica utilizes a holistic approach to therapy that incorporates the strengths-based techniques of Person-Centered Therapy, the elements of values and mindfulness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the action-oriented strategies of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Jessica also utilizes techniques from Narrative Therapy by honoring the stories and experiences that have shaped who people are and the pathways they have taken. Jessica is currently expanding her skillset with training in Play Therapy.
Beyond counselling, Jessica is a wife and mother to 3 active children and a fur-baby. In her free time, she loves to get outside into nature, do yoga, run, read, and visit local restaurants in Edmonton.
