Literacy Intervention

Literacy Assessment & Intervention

Our literacy specialists offer 1-on-1 individualized structured literacy intervention and strategy instruction for children and youth. Targeted literacy intervention provides crucial long-term benefits by addressing areas of need before they spiral into significant, long-term disparities. Literacy intervention not only improves self-efficacy, learning, and academic performance but reduces behavioral, and social difficulties, contributing to ones overall positive well-being.

Our experienced teachers utilize a variety of specialized supports and programming when tailoring targeted intervention. Some integrate the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach, which involves the student in integrative practices of reading, spelling and writing. Sessions are personalized and diagnostic, where instructional elements focus on the resolution of each students individual challenges and builds upon their success. This multi-sensory approach is considered the gold standard in reading instruction for dyslexic and struggling readers alike.

Is your child experiencing difficulty with reading, spelling, or writing? Developing literacy is a complex process, which requires the mastery and integration of multiple skills, from mapping abstract symbols to the right speech sounds, to understanding what all the words mean. Oftentimes, parents and caregivers struggle to find successful tools when a child struggles - especially when a child has dyslexia or learning delays.

Literacy Assessment and Intervention is a core focus at The Brick House Collective.
