Barb Fouts-Melnychuk, B.Ed., M.Ed.
Barb is a Literacy Specialist and Certified Teacher with 35 years experience. In her private practice, Hope Bridge Literacy, Barb conducts learning assessments and provides strategy instruction for individuals with learning and attention concerns.
Throughout her career Barb has taught in both complex and mainstream classrooms, working with gifted and talented students, students with learning disabilities, students requiring emotional supports, and students new to Canada. Barb has taught grades 4-12 with a focus on English/Language Arts, Social Studies, and Mathematics. She has also provided Literacy Intervention across the grades and creates high school programming for students acquiring English. Barb has previously worked as a literacy and inclusive education lead teacher and literacy consultant within the public school system.
Barb is currently teaching English 10, 20 and 30 integrating Literacy Intervention supports to meet the wide range of learning needs and holds a graduate degree from the University of Victoria focused on literacy in secondary education.
Barb currently shares her passion and expertise through tutoring and collaboration with colleagues.
